About the Programs

Jr. NBA – Boys & Girls (age 5-12)

The Jr. NBA provides young athletes with fun, high-quality, and developmentally appropriate basketball training, programming, and coaching as part of a holistic approach to long-term athlete development.

The program is:

  • Aligned with the Sport Canada Long-Term Athlete Development, the standard model for athlete training programs at all levels of Canadian sport.
  • Endorsed by Canada Basketball
  • Sanctioned by Sport Canada
  • Affiliated with NBA Canada
  • Spring Session Runs April-June

Winnipeg Minor Community League Basketball – Boys & Girls (age 7-18)

The WMBA’s main program offered is its Community Club Basketball League. The Fall / Winter and Spring league is open to Boys and Girls ages 7-18 . There are no ‘tryouts’ for club basketball as we make as many teams in the area based on the number of players who register.

We offer both a Fall/Winter league which runs October through March and a Spring League from April to June. The Club league holds its games on weekends, along with one practice during the weeknights. Practice night is not determined until the teams are finalized and coaches confirmed.

The WMBA is a city-wide league, so teams will be competing against other teams from around the city. We attempt to keep games in a central location fair to all teams in the program. Age divisions are set roughly every 1 to 2 years. This program is run by volunteers and we are always looking for people to get involved as either a coach or manager – email your Basketball Convenor – Janet McMahon at corydon@wmba.ca

Uniform Deposit

All registrants must place a $100.00 deposit (post dated cheque made payable to Corydon CC) to be given to the coaches before uniforms are distributed. If uniforms are not returned after the season, the cheque will be cashed. Players are required to supply non-marking indoor shoes and blacks shorts with no pockets.
