Program Descriptions
Kindergym
Designed for 4-year-olds, Kindergym is a fun and active introduction to gymnastics in a safe, supportive environment. During this 45-minute class, children explore a variety of gymnastics equipment through playful stations, games, music, and movement activities. Athletes will develop important foundational skills such as balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, and body awareness while building confidence and learning how to follow instructions, take turns, and interact positively with others. As each child grows and develops, coaches introduce new skills and challenges to keep classes exciting, engaging, and age-appropriate.
Mini-Gym
Designed for children ages 5 and 6, Mini-Gym is a 45-minute class focused on movement, exploration, and skill development. Athletes will learn the basics of gymnastics while using equipment such as bars, balance beams, springboards, and a variety of fun training stations. Through games and creative activities, our coaches help each child build strength, coordination, balance, confidence, and body awareness. Athletes also develop important life skills such as listening, independence, teamwork, and taking turns. Mini-Gym provides the perfect foundation for children who are ready to continue into our recreational gymnastics programs.
Recreational Gymnastics Classes
Beginner Recreational
Designed for children ages 6–9, Beginner Recreational Gymnastics introduces athletes to the fundamental skills and movements that create a strong gymnastics foundation. In this 1-hour class, athletes work through progressive skills while developing strength, coordination, balance, flexibility, agility, and confidence. Coaches guide each gymnast through the Beginner Rec 1 and Beginner Rec 2 skill progressions, allowing athletes to learn at their own pace in a positive and encouraging environment. Beyond gymnastics skills, athletes build important qualities such as perseverance, focus, independence, and teamwork. This program is a great way for children to stay active, develop new abilities, and discover a love for gymnastics.
Recreational 10+
This class is for recreational gymnasts ages 10 and older, whether they are new to gymnastics, have previous experience, or are moving on from competitive gymnastics. Each class is designed to meet gymnasts where they are at, with stations and skills adjusted to suit different experience and ability levels. Gymnasts will work on vault, bars, beam, and floor while building strength, coordination, confidence, and physical literacy. The focus is on learning new skills, improving existing ones, and having fun in a supportive environment. This 1 hour and 15 minute class is a great option for anyone looking to enjoy gymnastics without the time commitment of a competitive program.
Intermediate Recreational (Invite Only)
Intermediate Recreational is designed for athletes who have successfully completed the skills outlined in the Beginner Recreational 1 and 2 report cards. This 1 hour and 15 minute class allows gymnasts to continue building their skills, strength, coordination, and confidence while beginning to learn many of the foundational skills introduced in Level 1 competitive routines. Intermediate Rec is a great option for athletes who want to continue progressing in gymnastics while balancing other activities. Unlike Level 1 Competitive, which requires a two-day-per-week commitment, Intermediate Rec runs once per week while still providing opportunities for athletes to challenge themselves and learn new skills. If your athlete is interested in joining Intermediate Rec but has not received an invitation, please contact us so we can discuss whether this program is the right fit.
Advanced Recreational (Invite Only)
Advanced Recreational is an opportunity for athletes who are ready for the next step in their gymnastics journey. This program is designed for gymnasts who enjoy learning new skills, taking on challenges, and continuing to grow in a supportive environment. Athletes train once per week for 1.25 hours while working toward completing and mastering the Advanced Rec 1 and 2 report cards. Training focuses on improving technique, building strength, developing consistency, and celebrating individual progress. This program is a great fit for gymnasts who want to continue developing their abilities while enjoying the sport they love.
General Information for Kindergym, Mini-Gym & Recreational Programs
Welcome to Kindergym, Mini-Gym & Recreational Gymnastics!
We are excited to welcome your athlete to Corydon Gymnastics! Our goal is to provide a fun, positive, and safe environment where every athlete can build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy being active.
To help create the best possible experience for everyone, please review our class guidelines below.
- Ready, Set, Gym! Athletes should arrive ready to move and participate. Appropriate gymnastics attire includes a gym suit or comfortable shorts and a t-shirt. Athletes participate barefoot to ensure safe movement on the equipment. Clothing should allow athletes to stretch, move freely, and safely participate in activities. Loose track pants, sweatpants, jeans, skirts, sweaters, or clothing with zippers, buttons, or other items that may interfere with equipment are not permitted.
- Keep Hair Gym-Ready! For safety and comfort, long hair must be securely tied back, and long bangs should be pinned away from the face. Hair clips or headbands may be used to keep shorter hair out of the way. We appreciate donations of hair elastics and clips, as we like to keep extras available for athletes who may forget theirs at home.
- Leave the Bling at Home! To help keep everyone safe while using gymnastics equipment, jewelry must be removed before class. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, and earrings other than small studs are not permitted. If your athlete wears a Medic Alert bracelet, it must be securely covered with athletic tape or a sweatband during class.
- Safe Pick-Up After Class! For your athlete’s safety, please arrive on time for pick-up when class ends. If you are delayed, please contact Corydon Community Centre at 488-7000 ext. 209 and ask to speak with one of the gymnastics coaches.
- Family Support & Viewing: We encourage parents and caregivers to allow athletes to participate independently during class whenever possible. This helps athletes build confidence, develop focus, and create strong relationships with their coaches and teammates. Parents are asked to remain outside the gym during class.
We know families enjoy seeing what athletes are learning! Athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their skills during our Family Display Day. If you have a family member visiting or would like to arrange a time to watch your athlete’s class, please speak with a coach and we would be happy to help arrange a visit.
Thank you for helping us create a welcoming, positive, and safe gymnastics experience for every athlete!
Competitive Programs
Our competitive programs are designed for athletes who are ready to take their gymnastics training to the next level. Entry into competitive programs is by invitation only, and all interested athletes must complete an assessment to determine readiness and appropriate placement.
Competitive athletes train across all four gymnastics events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Training focuses on developing advanced skills, strength, flexibility, confidence, consistency, and technical precision.
Throughout the season, athletes learn and refine routines that are performed at competitions, giving them the opportunity to showcase their dedication, progress, and achievements. As athletes move through the competitive pathway, they take on new challenges, increased training hours, and additional competition experiences while continuing to grow as gymnasts and teammates.

Throughout the season, athletes participate in two external competitions and one in-house competition. Athletes are recognized with Bronze, Silver, or Gold awards on each event and for their All Around performance.
As members of our competitive team, athletes are expected to represent Corydon Gymnastics with pride and are required to purchase a competitive leotard and team track jacket for competitions and team events.
This program provides a positive and supportive environment where athletes develop discipline, confidence, and the skills needed to continue progressing through the competitive pathway.

Fundraisers
Corydon Gymnastics hosts three main fundraisers each season. Two fundraisers take place between September and December, and one fundraiser runs from January through May.
We encourage all families to participate and help support our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Funds raised directly support the purchase, maintenance, and repair of the equipment used by our athletes.
Families who prefer to support the program in another way may also choose to make a direct donation.
Thank you for helping us continue to provide a safe, well-equipped, and positive gymnastics experience for all athletes.
Volunteer Requirements for Levels 1–8
Our gymnastics community is built on the support and involvement of our families. Parents and guardians of Regional Stream and Provincial Stream athletes are required to complete a minimum of 3 volunteer hours during the gymnastics season.
Volunteer opportunities will be shared with families by email throughout the year. These opportunities are a great way to support our athletes, coaches, programs, and events while becoming more involved in our gymnastics community.
Families who do not complete the required volunteer hours will have their volunteer bond processed.
Competition Fee Policy for Levels 1–8
All competitions are mandatory for Levels 1–6, and competition fees are committed once registration is complete.
If an athlete is unable to compete due to injury, a doctor’s note must be provided before the competition date. A partial refund may be considered based on any unrecoverable costs.
Uneven bar grips are required for Level 4 athletes and above. Grips are recommended, but not required, for Level 3 athletes and remain optional for Levels 1 and 2.
Uneven bar grips are available for purchase through the club. Families should speak with a coach for assistance with sizing, fit, and recommendations.
Gym Clean-Up
Keeping our gym clean and organized is a team effort! Athletes are asked to stay and help with clean-up for at least 15 minutes after their class during designated clean-up times.
Parents are always welcome to join and lend a hand. With everyone working together, we can quickly put equipment away and keep our gym safe, organized, and ready for the next practice.
Thank you to all of our athletes and families for your teamwork, support, and commitment to our gymnastics community!
If you have any questions or concerns about these guidelines, please speak with one of our coaches.
